January has zoomed by!

Good afternoon everyone, Today everyone is bringing home their No Excuse spelling.  I have attached the list we used for them to self-check and to practice with.  Make sure they are not using capitals unless the word requires one. If you find they are mastering the list quickly I have attached a more comprehensive robust list to extend their learning. https://www.bvusd.org/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=1319&dataid=1838&FileName=No%20Excuse%20Words%20Spelling%20Words.pdf The Social Studies project that was sent home was due today. Those students who are building their cubes have the cube templates and their printed work if it was complete so they can glue it to the template.  Please support your child in completing their project if they are still working on adding information to their documents.  Remember to bring back all textbooks and green duo-tangs on Monday. We are working on multiplication - practice math facts!  😀 Tomorrow is a PD day, so en

Homework!!! And report cards 😉

Happy Monday everyone! We have report cards coming home today, everyone is excited to see how they did so don't be surprised if they're opened before they get home.  We do ask them to wait, but ... Please return the envelopes to help the school save on supplies. I am sending home the kids Social Studies duo-tang. They have a check list for their project that they are working on in Google Docs.  We have has a substantial amount of time to research and gather the information and to enter it in our docs. I cannot dedicate any more class time to complete this work.  I would appreciate it if you could speak to your children about using their class time wisely. - Students who are building the cube will be given the cube templates and the printed information to cut and paste tomorrow.  All projects are due by Thursday. Field Study forms for our next trip are also coming home today. We need 4 volunteers for our trip to the Glenbow Museum on February 5th. **Edit - sorry this was
Good afternoon Room 10 Families! Today was a busy day. We were visited by Constable Don of the Calgary Police.  He discussed safety and responsibility and what factors we have in our lives that help make us resilient. We can't wait for our Eco Leader participants to tell us all about what they learned today and to discover how we can make the world a better place. We are working on completing our Social Studies research on the Alberta Regions and creating our  final projects. If you are curious about your child's progress please ask them to sign into their google drives. Have a nice evening everyone! Mrs. B.

Spelling Test & Classroom news

Good morning everyone, I have to apologize for causing confusion over spelling the last two Mondays.  When I make sub plans I write over previous plans and missed that I had mentioned a spelling test from months ago.  We are currently working on completing a large list call the No Excuse Spelling works, a list that covers kindergarten through grade 6 (we stop at grade 4).  Once we've finished I will send home the completed test and comprehensive list so everyone can practice at home -  my goal is Friday. This list is meant to support reading and writing as it includes the most frequently used words that everyone should be recognizing and spelling correctly to date. Important dates coming up: January 22 Constable Don to visit the classroom  Eco-leadership students in all grade 4 and 4/5 classes away for conference with Mr. Affeld and Mrs. Bjornson.  January 27 Report Cards go home Have a lovely day, enjoy the warmth!  Mrs. B.

Freezing Week Review

Image
Hello everyone! While it's been a chilly week outside we've spent some time building team spirit and having some fun with our buddies and the other grade 4 and 4/5 classes.  And due to our low attendance - some crazy flu and of course safety first, we've spent the majority of our week reviewing and are all excited to move onto new learning next week. Here are some snapshots of our week! See you all next week! 😊

Good afternoon everyone! Welcome to the new 20's! 😁 I hope everyone has had an enjoyable and restful break. Our floors have been waxed and are now shiny and bright waiting for students to return - make sure you have your indoor shoes if they were taken home! Up coming events: Mr. Hawken has asked to remind everyone that next week we are continuing our juggling and unicycle skills, so make sure you bring your helmets on Monday.   All library books are due on Tuesday January 14.   Also a reminder that our regular library exchange day is on Tuesday mornings and books can be checked out for 3 weeks before they need to be renewed or returned.  Students can take out 3 books now, one to remain in the classroom for quiet reading time.  Friday will be our usual 12:15 dismissal.   We are expecting it to be quite cold for the next little while so please ensure your children are dressed for the cold (busses breakdown occasionally and we want everyone to be warm and safe at all
