Getting ready for Pink Shirt Day

Hello Room 10 Families,

As your children have likely told you, we've been focusing on bully awareness and prevention.  I am sad to report that we have a significant problem with bullying in our classroom.  In order to correct this problem we are learning what bullying is, what we can do to prevent it, and how we can all be kind humans who can make a difference.

We have spent some time learning what empathy is and what it looks like to be empathetic.  We are in the process of creating a project that helps us see that it's what's inside that matters most so we can find ways to connect with peers in positive and meaningful ways.

Today we read a story called "My Secret Bully". This book can evoke emotions and feelings when kids start to relate to the main characters experiences and feelings.  Please take a moment to sit down with your children and ask them what they thought about the story.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via email or by calling the school.

Take care and have a good evening,
Mrs. B.
